THE BEST GIRL CIEL....!!
[Nier went to the library today hoping to find some small picture books or something easy to read. He was hoping to bring some novels back to his younger sister later on since she liked hearing stories. Too bad every other book he seems to find appears to look way too confusing or difficult to understand and he's even struggling to read some of it on his own. ]
Why are these words so complicated? Maybe I'll ask Weiss to consider becoming a dictionary. Oh well.
[He sighs and immediately drops the idea. Nier places the book back onto the shelf and takes the next one only to have the same problem. It's way too wordy for him.]
I better give up on this one too. [lbr, it looks like he's struggling too much on his own and even making a bit of a ruckus. Ciel might be able to help (TM) ]

[ He's quickly realizing that Ciel is so thoughtful and through with everything. The idea of bringing a dictionary never even crossed his mind. ]
Is it okay if I ask for your name? I'm Nier.
[ Nier's trying his best to be polite and respectful to Ciel because she's incredibly nice. They've been speaking for a short while but he enjoys her company okok.]
no subject
[on whose authority?? Again, details. Don't worry about it--]
You can call me Ciel. It's nice to meet you, Nier. And here we are! [She finally stops with a slight twirl in her step, to a section with noticeably more colorful and low bookshelves. The area is complimented by low tables and cushions littered on the floor atop a mat, which seems to be printed with motifs of fluffy clouds. It WAS a bit hidden by the taller shelves, probably why he missed it?]
Now then. Picture books for little sisters... [Leaning over one of the shelves with both hands folded at her hips, she gives the contents a scanning glance before pulling one out; there's a bright butterfly on the cover.] How about this? It's the story of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. [She gives it a perusing flip before handing it to Nier for big brother inspection, watching him expectantly with a twinkle in her eyes.]
no subject
Yeah, it's nice to meet you. That book sounds like just what I need. My sister has been reading this book about a giant tree. She might like the story of a butterfly...
[ He curiously tilts his head over and scratches his chin. ]
How am I supposed to thank you for helping me? You've done more than just show me the right way and you've even picked out a good book. Do you just like being helpful?
no subject
A giant tree sounds like a nice setting, too. Should we find more books of that sort? Are you sure one will be enough?
[She's got her hands idly linked behind her back, giving another nearby shelf a scrutinizing glance as she goes.]
Please, you're exaggerating. I do have my share of hobbies, but this much is just what's expected out of any proper librarian. Your sister aside, will you be picking up something for yourself as well, Nier?
no subject
One book should be fine but maybe we can get another to be sure.
[ He nods and looks at Ciel again. She's really not that tall and looks kind of young now that he ponders on it.... How old is she?? ]
Hm, I'm not that good at reading complicated texts. I used to study more when I was younger but now I really don't know. I guess I fell out of practice...
What do you think I should do? Read more?
no subject
[Definitely late teens early twenties... She does look a bit young to be a Sister or librarian, hm... Her eyes are still twinkling enthusiastically, watching him with great interest.]
We can find something not too wordy for you, too. As for what I think you should do... Well, what would you like to do? Books can teach you about practical things, like manuals and recipes, but they can also be read for fun, just get away from everything in your life for a short while and immerse yourself in someone else's story. How does either sound?
no subject
[ that sounds like a good starting point. ]
I haven't really stopped to think about what I enjoy. Is that strange? There's always something happening so didn't get much time for myself or to ponder on those things.
It sounds like you know a whole lot.

[Bringing a hand to thoughtfully cup over her mouth, she's leaning over the row of shelves with her brow knit in concentration as she scans through the titles. One moment...]
Hm? Aha, not at all. [She throws a glance up his way briefly, but goes back to looking through the books the next beat.] Sound like you're quite the busy person, so sometimes things like that can't be helped. It's a little worrisome when you put it that way, though. Do you have any hobbies in general, Nier?
no subject
[ He has this obsession with hunting and sometimes even killing things that may inconvenience him like monsters or giant robots. Is that really a hobby tho... ]
I can't stop to rest when things are like that. It's hard for me to explain but do you understand what I mean? You seem to know a lot of things...so maybe you do.
no subject
That depends. Is it something you go out of your way to do, even if you don't have to? Do you enjoy it? Exercise does help with stress relief, so fighting could be good for that to some people.
no subject
[ It's not really a matter of him enjoying it or liking it. Although, he does let off a lot of steam when he fights so it is a form of stress relief. ]
I've been at it ever since I was old enough to hold a blade. I can't imagine not fighting since it's all I really know. Other things I don't think about so much...but I did try gardening one time.
[ It was kind of awful tbh. ]

She's not looking Nier's way, having withdrawn a book from the shelf to skim through its contents. A picture or two of flowers may have flashed by, but it seems like it was no good, as she puts it back where it belonged within seconds before moving to the next row.]
Being used to something doesn't necessarily make it easier. What of your sister, while you're out fighting?
no subject
[ hey, it happens. Nier can't always be there to babysit because he has other things to do. ]
Did you ever send lots of letters to someone before, Ciel?
no subject
[Something like that is to be expected. Must be nice, to have someone important to go back to. These siblings are truly close, aren't they...
...]
I've done my share of travelling, but alas, I don't have a cute younger sibling to relay my journey to. That's a blessing too, you know~ [She sounds to be joking and in a good mood though, having withdrawn another hardcover book from the shelves and is currently idly skimming through it.]
God the notif apocalypse why
[ Every other day is fine right? ]
It really is a blessing and I'm thankful to have a family. What about your family, Ciel? Are you alone out here?
patpat...
[she doesn't miss him not commenting on her suggestion of souvenirs, but doesn't push the topic.]
I don't have any siblings, younger or older. The church's orphanage makes me feel like a big sister plenty, though, so that's more than enough, hehe.
no subject
[ Oh, Ciel is an only child?]
Are you sure? You don't get lonely at all?
no subject
[Her shoulders deflate, but only for a moment- aha! Seems like she found something, as her eyes obviously light up as she pulls a book from the shelves.]
Mm! How about this one?
[She shows him the cover, which features a girl and a giant sunflower that grows to the clouds. The story seems to be somewhat similar to the classic "Jack and The Beanstalk", except instead of finding a giant that falls to his death, the girl befriends a flying... hippo, yes it is a big fat hippo, and they go on to adventures exploring the world. Cute... (Did he ask something? Haha,)]
no subject
I think that would be great...!
[ She is too good at picking books.]
I really hope this one has a happy ending. There's nothing worse than a book that seems nice and the ending turns out miserable.
no subject
Then please, take this one too! Haha, thankfully the most you have to worry about with fairytales is a bit of violent karma. A lot of them started out as cautionary tales trying to teach children about morality, so villains often end up meeting grisly ends. The heroes generally get their happily ever afters, however. Seeing as you're your sister's guardian, the burden of vetting falls upon you. Just don't pick randomly to dodge unpleasant surprises, hm?
[Happily pushing the book into his hands in the meanwhile! At least he's done with what he has to do, more or less?!]
no subject
Cautionary tales about morality...like how you shouldn't steal things from people or bad things will happen?
I'll do my best, Ciel. We have no idea what the future holds.
no subject
Hehe, I'm sure you will. I still need to get you the dictionary, but aside from that, do you need help with anything else?
